ESMINT Fellowship
ESMINT offers a fellowship and observership programme, exclusively for ESMINT members.
Applications for the sixth edition of the programme are now closed.
The deadline for applications was at 23.59 CEST on 31st May, 2024.
What’s new in 2024?
2024 marks the sixth year of the programme.
We will continue with the previous years’ successful innovations: offering an allocation of fellowships dedicated to, and reserved for, women in addition to the regular number of fellowships and observerships (started in 2022), and offering all ESMNT fellows free registration to the online EXMINT course and the opportunity to participate in our e-Fellowship programme. These are not compulsory, but both are strongly recommended. ESMINT fellows will receive a free registration to the ESMINT Congress.
In March of this year we ran a successful pilot edition of the ESMINT Skills Training. ESMINT fellows and observers are encouraged to apply if appropriate, particularly those who have attend ECMINT. The next edition will be in November 2024.
Finally, 2024 will see the launch of a series of lectures on the basics of neurointerventions for ESMINT fellows and observers by well-known neurointervention.
We extend our gratitude to Medtronic for their generous, continued sponsorship of the ESMINT Fellowship programme.
Testimonials:
The Esmint fellowship offered a unique experience to ameliorate my Neurointerventional skills in one of the most prestigious centers in France. It contributed profoundly to my career and therefore I am extremely grateful. (Fellow, Reims)
This observership was an incredible learning opportunity. All the teachings from Prof. Kulcsár and the amazing Zurich team will be reflected in the care of my patients. I am honored and grateful to ESMINT for being the link that connects us. (Observer, Zurich)
During my 4-month tenure, I participated in a wide array of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including endovascular treatments for aneurysms and embolizations for AVMs and dAVFs. Also, I engaged in presentations, meetings, and conferences across Italy, fostering professional growth. Beyond the enriching professional experience, I formed lasting bonds with a supportive team, making my time at Niguarda Hospital truly memorable. I wholeheartedly recommend the programme for its unexpected rewards and opportunities for personal and professional development.(Observer, Niguarda, Milan)
What is the ESMINT Fellowship Programme?
The ESMINT Fellowship Programme was founded in response to the growing need for trained neurointerventionalists in the field of ischemic stroke. The programme is for physicians wishing to obtain competence in Acute Ischemic Stroke Interventions (AISI) as defined by the European Board of Neurointervention (EBNI).
Aim of the ESMINT Fellowship Programme
The goal of the programme is to train young neurointerventionalists in stroke procedures by offering financial support for them to join an INR training center.
By the end of the training period, trainees should have performed at least 25 stroke procedures as first operator, and be able to manage clinically and endovascularly the vast majority of the stroke cases referred to their own centre.
Components of the ESMINT Fellowship Programme
The programme consists of:
- A 1-year training at one of the designated centres (see below), financially supported by ESMINT.
- Fellows are also offered complimentary registration to the online EXMINT course and invited to join our e-fellowship programme. These are not compulsory, but both are strongly recommended.
- A series of lectures on the basics of neurointerventions by well-known neurointerventionalists is planned for ESMINT Fellows starting in 2024.
- ESMINT fellows will also receive a free registration to the ESMINT Congress.
What is the ESMINT Observership Programme?
ESMINT also offers an Observership Programme.
Aim of the ESMINT Observership Programme
The goal of the observership programme is to offer an informal learning experience as a visiting observer in a university hospital environment.
Components of the ESMINT Observership Programme
This programme consists of:
- A 3 – 4 month observership at one of the designated centres (see below), financially supported by ESMINT
- Observers are offered complimentary registration to the online EXMINT course and invited to join our e-fellowship programme. These are not compulsory, but both are strongly recommended.
- A series of lectures on the basics of neurointerventions by well-known neurointerventionalists is planned for ESMINT Fellows and Observers starting in 2024.
