ECMINT (now EBNI endorsed) had to join the 2020 socially distanced world of education with a virtual ECMINT 3.4 focussed on brain, facial and spinal arteriovenous malformations.
97 delegates signed up for a series of pre-recorded lectures accessible from early November and live tutorials were held during the first half of the week of December 14th and 3.4 concluded with a virtual invigilated exam.
The course content was no different from a live Oxford course but the professional interaction was inevitably diminished and the social interaction obviously and regrettably absent. Formative quizzes were via an Ortrac APP, a new development with explanations/rationale and references for the answers included.
The end of course exam/quiz was a new brave venture – virtual and invigilated remotely. We are sorry that there were some, perhaps inevitable, IT hiccoughs (hopefully not to be repeated) with the process but for the vast majority the exam passed off successfully and the delegates are to be congratulated and should feel proud to have embraced the occasion and dealt head on with the difficulties – good training for their INR careers!
Tarryn Ching has been on maternity leave (we all wish her well) and we thank Odette Dawkins who stood in for her. Odette worked incredibly hard, tirelessly and contributed enormously to the success of this course. (It simply would not have happened without her!).
We do hope that for ECMINT 4.1 in June 2021 we will all be in St Anne’s College, Oxford once again. We will keep you updated.
We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy 2021.
Stay safe.
Best wishes,
Odette, Phil, Shelley
