COVID continues and ECMINT 4.1 (main theme vascular skull base disease……with a lot of anatomy!) passed off successfully virtually once again. We were hoping that 3.4 would have been the one and only virtual ECMINT experience, but it was not to be. Who really knows what will happen in December 2021? However, with vaccination programmes within Europe we are hopeful even confident that 4.2 will be Face to Face in Oxford University in December. Prof Peter Jezzard, a longstanding ECMINT lecturer, has joined Shelley & Phil as a local organiser to help secure that Oxford location for the future.
107 delegates joined and fully engaged with the course. We were again superbly supported by Oxford University Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences (Tarryn especially) and Oxford’s Medical Sciences virtual learning environment. Our excellent faculty recorded on line lectures well in advance (thank you!!) and these could be accessed as often as necessary. Three busy days of live interactive tutorials were given by our team of European INR experts. Educational formative quizzes with extensive background information and references were available via the Ortrac website and APP. The end of course invilgilated exam via Zoom was supported by Damion and Jon from Oxford Medical Sciences……the delegates seem to have done well (must have been too easy!).
We really want to thank our delegates again for embracing this virtual experience – we acknowledge the hard work they have put in. We also thank our lecturers and tutors who have worked so hard and the support provided by Oxford University… a living example of pan European working together to achieve an important goal – the pursuit of excellence and development in INR. We continue to explore UEMS accreditation and aligning ECMINT with the likely requirements for the EBNI Diploma to be UEMS recognised.
With best wishes,
Tarryn, Shelley, Phil & Peter
