Due to soaring cases of the delta variant, ECMINT was forced to be virtual for the third time and omicron really “sealed the deal”. We really, really miss the great academic atmosphere and stimulating, invigorating company provided by F2F ECMINT in St Anne’s.

Like everything, however, there is an upside to virtual ECMINT – the excellent state of the art lectures, delivered by experts, being pre-recorded, can be accessed over and over by the delegates (120 this time) as can the tutorials- also recorded.

4.2 concentrated on the management of subarachnoid haemorrhage, intracranial aneurysms and delayed cerebral ischaemia but the course introduced other topics – content has been expanded to ensure that all aspects of the European INR curriculum are covered in each cycle.

There was a lot of scientific information on the endothelium – the basis for aneurysm formation and delayed cerebral ischaemia. If we don’t understand the science, how can we advance our speciality?
Quizzes, to consolidate knowledge and provide other useful easily accessible information and references were available via the Ortrac website and APP – full of “stuff” we wish someone had told us when we started off.

The exam was virtual again but this time the virtual exam programme cleverly encorporated software to detect delegate behaviour suggestive of cheating. Most candidates did well reflecting the excellent teaching afforded by the course.

We hope to see you..yes, see you in June 2022!
