The EXMINT 8.1 course has been successfully completed, marking an important milestone in the European Stroke Course in Minimally Invasive Neurological Therapy (EXMINT) series.
A total of 86 participants took part in this intensive, five-day virtual course, which focused on the theoretical aspects of ischemic stroke treatment.
Participants from a variety of specialties – including Neurology, Interventional Radiology, Cardiology, Neuroradiology, Neurosurgery, Radiology, and Stroke Medicine – engaged in lectures, tutorials, and assessments, gaining insights into key areas such as anatomy, diagnostic methods, examination techniques, and medicamentous therapy.
The course was led by Course Director Antonin Krajina, EXMINT Chair Wim van Zwam, and Course Organizer Lenka Lomjanská. Participants completed 45 lessons, along with three daily tests and a final exam designed to consolidate the knowledge acquired throughout the course.
Participant feedback for EXMINT 8.1 was exceptionally positive. Many highlighted the broad coverage of topics, the clarity of explanations, and the confidence the course helped them build. As one participant put it, “This course offered a thorough introduction to stroke thrombectomy – with up-to-date evidence, anatomy, techniques and practical insights.” Another commented, “The best aspect was the well-collected and clearly presented knowledge that enables participants to enter this field with confidence.”
Looking Ahead
EXMINT 8.2, the second part of the program, will be held on-site in Prague from 23–27 February 2026. This in-person session will allow participants to dive deeper into the theoretical knowledge with some glimpses of practical training through hands-on sessions.
After completing both parts of the course, participants will be eligible to take the European Diploma in Ischaemic Stroke Intervention (EDSI) exam. Successful candidates will receive their diploma at the ESMINT Congress in September.
About EXMINT
EXMINT is a specialized program designed to provide physicians with intensive training in the neurointerventional treatment of ischemic stroke. The course is structured into two parts: a virtual theoretical course (EXMINT x.1) and an in-person theoretical course (EXMINT x.2), with additional hands-on training available as part of the program. Graduates of the program can pursue certification through the European Diploma in Ischaemic Stroke Intervention (EDSI).
We congratulate all participants of EXMINT 8.1 on their successful completion and look forward to the next steps in their educational journey.
