2025 was a year of growth, collaboration, and meaningful progress for ESMINT. Across education, research, networking, and outreach, our community continued to advance the field of neurointervention with dedication and expertise. Below, we invite you to explore the key milestones and achievements that shaped this impactful year.
Education
Education remains at the core of ESMINT’s mission. In 2025, we further strengthened our commitment to high-quality training and continuous professional development:
- ECMINT 6.1 and 6.2, as well as EXMINT 7.2 and 8.1, were successfully delivered, providing advanced theoretical foundations to practitioners across Europe and beyond.
- We conducted Skills Training Courses 2.1 and 2.2, offering hands-on experience and practical guidance in neurointerventional techniques.
- We hosted the 7th Edition of the Fellowship (including Observerships) and the 6th Edition of the e-Fellowship , continuing to support and mentor the next generation of specialists.
- We launched NeuroXChange, a new initiative that enables young neurointerventionalists to spend 10 days at a leading European centre to exchange techniques, perspectives, and clinical insights. This marks an exciting new chapter in ESMINT’s commitment to cross-centre learning and international collaboration.
- Examinations for the European Diploma in Neurointervention (EDNI) and the European Diploma in Stroke Intervention (EDSI)were completed, with 53 EDNI and 66 EDSI candidates successfully passing their exams.
- Our Online Learning Webinars continued to grow, including ESMINT-hosted sessions, joint webinars with partner societies and ESMINT sub-committees, industry-supported webinars, and members-only CME-accredited Case Discussion Forums.
Research
ESMINT’s research activities in 2025 were both impactful and forward-looking, strengthening our role as a driving force in advancing neurointerventional science:
- Completion of the final drafting phase of the consensus paper, “Clinical Trial Standards for Endovascular Devices in the Treatment of Acute Ischemic Stroke under the EU Medical Device Regulation: A Multisociety Consensus Recommendation”, by the MDR Task Force
- We established the MDR Expert Database, addressing the growing need for qualified neurointerventional experts within the EU Medical Device Regulation (MDR) certification pathway and enabling Notified Bodies to connect with independent clinical specialists
- As part of our ongoing commitment to evidence-based guidelines, ESMINT partnered with EANS and SNIS to jointly develop a Flow Diversion Guideline, reflecting an important step forward in harmonizing international standards.
- We advanced innovation by serving as a clinical partner in SHERPA, an EU Horizon Europe project developing AI-driven assistive technologies for neurovascular interventions. This collaboration underscores ESMINT’s commitment to shaping the future of neurointerventional care.
- We endorsed clinical trials to promote high-quality research, including the PREVENT Registry (Perforation Events during Endovascular Therapy for Acute Ischemic Stroke) and the PreSize® Neurovascular Trial.
- ESMINT conducted the 2nd Pilot Research Grant, selecting and supporting two innovative projects with high potential to contribute meaningfully to the field.
- The Best European Publication Award was presented to Janneck Stahl (Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg, Germany) for outstanding scientific contribution.
- ESMINT members participated in multiple research surveys, including on Sustainability in Neurointervention, Antithrombotic Management for Carotid Artery Stenting in Patients with Atrial Fibrillation, and other emerging topics.
Network
Our vibrant network continued to expand in 2025, strengthening connections across all professional groups within the neurointerventional community:
- We broadened our membership development initiatives, further engaging and supporting our diverse and growing community.
- Early-career professionals were empowered through EYMINT’s webinars, research activities, the e-Fellowship, and newly introduced formats — most notably “Bring Your Own First Case,” a dedicated session at the ESMINT Congress designed to support young practitioners presenting their initial cases.
- We enhanced support for nurses, technicians, and radiographers (ETMINT) by offering tailored opportunities, including a focused two-half-day programme during the ESMINT Congress and online learning opportunities.
- Through WIN (Women in Neurointervention), we promoted leadership, visibility, and mentorship for female professionals via workshops, webinars, endorsed events, and new initiatives. A key milestone was the launch of the ESMINT Female Speaker Database, fostering broader representation across scientific events.
Outreach
ESMINT’s outreach initiatives in 2025 strengthened collaboration, expanded our global impact, and supported the growth of neurointervention across regions:
- The ESMINT Congress 2025 stood out as a major highlight, presenting cutting-edge research, clinical innovations, and interactive formats such as case discussions and the Morbidity–Mortality Corner, fostering practical learning and peer exchange.
- We launched the EastMINT pilot project, a strategic initiative aimed at supporting and advancing neurointerventional care in underserved regions.
- Through our ESMINT endorsement programme, we supported aligned events that share ESMINT’s mission to advance neurointervention and promote high-quality education.
- We strengthened partnerships with societies — including DGNR, EANS, ESNR, ESO, FSIN, and SFNR — enabling reciprocal membership benefits, joint sessions, collaborative webinars, and further opportunities to expand expertise and visibility across borders.
We thank all members, faculty, partners, and volunteers who contributed to these accomplishments. Your engagement and collaboration continue to drive ESMINT’s mission forward.
Together, we look ahead to another year of progress, innovation, and shared commitment to advancing neurointervention worldwide.
