The scientific impact of European neurointerventional research continues to grow. In 2025, several articles with strong European authorship ranked among the most cited publications in JNIS, highlighting the relevance and quality of contributions from the ESMINT community.
This month marks an important milestone for JNIS, which is transitioning to an online-only format. While many of us will miss the paper editions, this move represents an inevitable—and more sustainable—step forward.
JNIS is the official journal of SNIS and ESMINT, and all ESMINT members receive full access. The journal continues to go from strength to strength, and we were delighted to learn that, among all papers published in 2023 and 2024, the ESO–ESMINT Guidelines on Mechanical Thrombectomy in Acute Ischemic Stroke was the most cited article in JNIS in 2025.
Several other articles, published in 2023 and 2024, and highly cited in 2025 also feature European authors or significant European contributions, including:
- Evaluation of effectiveness and safety of the CorPath GRX robotic system in endovascular embolization procedures of cerebral aneurysms (Pereira et al.)
- Early neurological deterioration in patients with minor stroke due to isolated M2 occlusion undergoing medical management: a retrospective multicenter study (Broccolini et al.)
- Incidence and outcome of perforations during medium vessel occlusion compared with large vessel occlusion thrombectomy (Schulze-Zachau et al.)
We encourage members to explore these influential papers—and many more—available through JNIS.
