Dear Friends, Colleagues, and Members of ESMINT,

Anne Christine Januel

In this difficult year, where the world is still facing so many conflicts, divisions, and fractures, our small community has, on the contrary, grown stronger and more united. The words “fraternity” and “cooperation” immediately come to mind when I reflect on the 16th ESMINT Congress, with over 1200 participants from across Europe, but also from Australia, Asia, America, and so many other places from all around the world.

If there is something that all of us – Neurointerventionalists and the ESMINT Community – can be proud of, it is this solidarity and determination to share and transmit our discipline.

Due to its technical nature, its perpetual innovation, and because our practice sits at the crossroads of Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Neuroradiology, our specialty, more than many others, thrives on collaboration, exchanges, and technical confrontations. ESMINT has always been a place where we can debate, learn from one another, challenge our assumptions, and ultimately grow as practitioners. Thanks to all of you, we continue to foster a true spirit of camaraderie among practitioners around the world.

The list of missions we’ve accomplished in 2024, which you can explore via this link or QR code below, reflects the energy of all of us – members of the Board, the Executive Committee, the Office Team, and all our members.

This year, ESMINT trained more than 200 practitioners, at ECMINT in Oxford and at EXMINT in Prague, granted 47 fellowships, e-Fellowships and observerships. We can specifically take pride in these increasingly comprehensive and specialized training programs. Each year, they help improve the treatment of thousands of patients across Europe and many other countries that are embracing our discipline.

Finally, and there can be no strong community without this, I must highlight our exceptional congress in Marseille this September. Beyond social media, e-learnings, and video conferences, we all know that these congresses are essential for us to have the opportunity to meet in person – sharing laughter, debates, good meals, great ideas, and unforgettable memories. These moments are crucial to maintaining the energy and passion for our profession.

As we move into 2025, I would like to express my deepest gratitude for the journey we’ve shared so far and encourage you all to continue to unite, to push forward and shape the future of ESMINT.

Let’s remain steadfast in our mission to advance neurointerventions through education, research, network and collaboration. Moreover, let’s continue to build bridges, break barriers, and inspire the next generation of leaders in our field.

I am proud to carry on the initiatives and missions started by my predecessors, to whom I am deeply grateful. I would like to warmly thank our Executive Board members, the Executive Committee, and the ESMINT Office for their tireless efforts and commitment. It’s a privilege to lead such a dedicated and passionate team.

All the members of the Board join me in wishing you a wonderful Christmas season and a fantastic New Year in 2025.

Warmest wishes,
Anne Christine Januel
