What is the webinar about?

The webinar mini-series will elaborate on SIH pathophysiology, neuroimaging by highlighting the value of brain MRI and provide a comprehensive guide to the diagnostic spine work-up for identifying and localizing CSF leaks. We review the three-tier therapeutic model that has been proposed for SIH, focusing on endovascular and surgical techniques.

Key message of the part 2

CSF venous fistulas (CSFVF) are an increasingly recognized cause of SIH, which might pose a challenge during the diagnostic work-up. Transvenous embolization of CSFVF has recently been reported to be an effective treatment method.

Brain MRI is valuable additional tool for standardized therapy monitoring and may complement the clinical presentation.

Programme

  • Dr. med. Eike Piechowiak: Endovascular treatment of CSF venous fistulas
  • MD Waleed Brinjikji: CSF venous fistula (diagnostic work-up), Epidural Blood Patch,
    Follow-up after Therapy

Learning objectives of part 2

  1. CSF venous fistulas (diagnosis + treatment)
  2. Epidural blood patching
  3. Diagnostic follow-up after treatment
