On Monday, 15 December 2025 from 5 PM – 6 PM CET, we will have an ESMINT Webinar on the: Current status and latest developments in stroke services in Eastern Europe.
Speakers of the webinar are Nikola Boban (Serbia), Deniz Bulja (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and Petar Janevski (North Macedonia). The webinar will be moderated by Jan-Hendrik Buhk (Germany) and Ivan Vukasinovic (Serbia).
What is the webinar about?
This webinar provides an update on the current status and ongoing development of stroke services across Eastern European countries, building on insights from the EastMINT project.
The speakers will discuss regional challenges, differences in stroke workflows and opportunities for improving access to high-quality care. A particular focus will be placed on the role of telemedicine and real-time support to strengthen stroke networks and enhance treatment pathways.
Overall, the session will highlight practical strategies to advance endovascular stroke care in resource- and distance-limited settings.

- Each center in Eastern Europe faces its own distinct challenges in stroke management, many of which can be addressed through the exchange of knowledge, ideas, and practical experience.
- Utilizing angio-suite cameras with real-time proctoring during live cases may provide a fast-track solution for improving technical skills in mechanical thrombectomy.
- Strengthening regional collaboration and peer-to-peer support can accelerate problem-solving and the development of stroke care programs across different Eastern European countries.

Head of the Interventional Radiology Department
Dr. Bulja leads the interventional radiology service in Sarajevo and has been actively involved in expanding neurointerventional workflows and stroke pathways in the region.
