European Stroke Organisation (ESO) and European Society for Minimally Invasive Neurological Therapy (ESMINT) guideline on acute management of basilar artery occlusion
14 August 2024 The aim of the present European Stroke Organisation (ESO) guideline is to provide evidence-based recommendations on the acute management of patients with basilar artery occlusion (BAO). These guidelines were prepared following the Standard Operational Procedure of the ESO and according to the GRADE methodology.
Evaluation of flow diverters for cerebral aneurysm therapy: recommendations for imaging analyses in clinical studies, endorsed by ESMINT, ESNR, OCIN, SILAN, SNIS, and WFITN
2 June 2024 Multiple studies and meta-analyses have described the technical and clinical outcomes in large cohorts of aneurysm patients treated with flow diverters (FDs). Variations in evaluation methodology complicate making comparisons among studies, hinder understanding of the device behavior, and pose an obstacle in the assessment of further advances in FD therapy.
European Society of Minimally Invasive Neurological Therapy (ESMINT) recommendations for optimal interventional neurovascular management in the covid-19 era
17 April 2020 The Coronavirus Disease 2019 (covid-19) pandemic began in December 2019 in Wuhan, China. The outbreak is due to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection. Healthcare contamination and infection rates are thought to be very high (up to 29% in a recent Chinese publication1). These recommendations are not intended to overrule local official safety measures and guidelines but rather to give other insights and perspectives while facing this exceptional situation in the safest way possible for your patient, team, family and yourself.
Standards for European training requirements in interventional neuroradiology: Guidelines by the Division of Neuroradiology/Section of Radiology European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS), in cooperation with the Division of Interventional Radiology/UEMS, the European Society of Neuroradiology (ESNR), and the European Society of Minimally Invasive Neurological Therapy (ESMINT) 15 November 2019 This guideline document defines standards of training in interventional neuroradiology (INR) in Europe. These guidelines have been developed by a working group of ESNR and ESMINT under the umbrella of the Division of Neuroradiology/Section of Radiology of the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS). These standards are based on the document which was published by the previous board of UEMS’s division in 2011. Standards of European training requirements in INR guidelines published in JNIS
European Stroke Organisation (ESO) – European Society for Minimally Invasive Neurological Therapy (ESMINT) Guidelines on Mechanical Thrombectomy in Acute Ischemic Stroke 1 March 2019 New European guidelines on mechanical thrombectomy for the treatment of stroke patients with large vessel occlusions. Based on the quality of the scientific evidence, the researchers were able to make recommendations for different patient groups and different therapy approaches. An expert opinion was provided when not enough evidence was available to provide recommendations based on the GRADE approach. Published article in ESMINT’s journal JNIS
Standards of practice in acute ischemic stroke intervention: international recommendations 28 August 2018 A multisociety meeting was organized during the 17th WFITN Congress, October 2017, Budapest (Hungary). This multisociety meeting was dedicated to standards of practice in acute ischemic stroke intervention (AISI), aiming for a consensus on the minimum requirements for centers providing such treatment. Published article in ESMINT’s journal JNIS
Access to and delivery of acute ischaemic stroke treatment: a survey of national scientific societies and stroke experts in 44 European countries 20 July 2018 Acute stroke treatment strategies significantly improve the outcome for patients with ischaemic stroke. Up to now, reliable data on access to and delivery of acute stroke treatment strategies throughout Europe are lacking. Therefore, ESO, ESMINT, EAN, and SAFE have surveyed stroke experts in 44 European countries. The researchers observed major inequalities in acute stroke treatment between and within these countries. The data shall assist decision-makers in implementing tailored stroke care programmes for reducing stroke-related morbidity and mortality in Europe. Published article in the European Stroke Journal
EU Standards of Practice in Interventional Stroke Treatment April/May 2017 A working group of ESNR, ESMINT and the UEMS Division for Neuroradiology has developed a consensus paper on standards of practice in interventional stroke treatment. It was reviewed and approved by the Executive Boards of ESNR and ESMINT and by the members of the UEMS Division for Neuroradiology in 2017. Standards of practice in interventional neuroradiology
Training Guidelines for Endovascular Ischemic Stroke Intervention: An International multi-society consensus document 18 February 2016 A group of international multi-disciplinary Neuro-Interventional societies, among them ESMINT, which are involved in the endovascular management of acute ischemic stroke, have put forth these training guidelines. They believe that “a neuroscience background, dedicated neurointerventional training, and stringent peer review and quality assurance processes are critical to ensuring the best possible patient outcomes. Well-trained neurointerventionalists are a critical component of an organized and efficient team needed to deliver clinically effective mechanical thrombectomy for acute ischemic stroke patients.” ESMINT Press release: Training guidelines for endovascular ischemic stroke Read the consensus document
ESMINT’s Standards Of Practice in Interventional Stroke Treatment 11 September 2015 The Standards of Practice Document has been presented to the audience during the ESMINT Congress on Friday, September 11, 2015, and was approved by an overwhelming majority of ESMINT and ESO participants. Please read below the full text of the statement: Read ESMINT’s Standards of Practice in Interventional Stroke Treatment
UEMS Standards Of Practice in Interventional Neuroradiology – INR 4 February 2011 The UEMS Division of Neuroradiology has created recommendations to provide optimal conditions for the practice of Interventional Neuroradiology. UEMS Standards of Practice in INR
