Agreement

If this proposal is funded by ESMINT then I agree to provide a mid-year progress report and a project summary and financial statement within 60 days of the completion of the funding time period. In addition, I agree to return any unused funds to ESMINT and to acknowledge the grant support in writing in any abstract or publication that results from this grant.

The applicant must provide one electronic PDF submission of all application components via the application form:

a) Cover Letter

b) Proposal

c) CV, to include all grants received in the preceding 5 years and publications from those grants.

d) If trainee, letter of support from senior PI providing oversight of project.

All documents should be converted to one single PDF. No Word documents will be accepted. Save the file with a descriptive file name starting with your last name followed by the title of your project. For example, “Rouchaud Ischemic Stroke.pdf “.

Applications must be submitted as a single file and containing ALL the sections indicated.

INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE REVIEWED.

If human subjects are to be enrolled the candidate must submit a copy of the IRB letter of approval prior to receiving the funds. However, such letter is not required with the initial application.

Specific Instructions
Research Strategy

A sound research project that is consistent with the candidate’s level of research development and the objectives of his/her career development plan must be provided. The research description should demonstrate not only the quality of the candidate’s research thus far but also the novelty, significance, creativity, and approach, as well as the ability of the candidate to carry out the proposed research. The application must also describe the relationship between the mentor’s research and the candidate’s proposed research plan.

Budget

This pilot grant program generally does not provide salary support for the PI. The goal of the grant is to include salary support for support staff, i.e., a statistician or a person who assists with collecting data. However, for specific circumstances, the PI may request an exception with appropriate justification. The PI acknowledges that this project does not constitute a contract of employment or impose on ESMINT any obligation to retain the PI as an employee.
