Christophe Cognard created the ESMINT Congress which first edition was held in Nice in September 2009. He was Congress President in 2009 and 2010 then decided that he should not remain Congress President for life and proposed to have a new one every year. He remained Vice-Congress-President until 2014. He opened the ESMINT Congress to sister societies of neurology (ESO) and neurosurgery (EANS) in order to create a multidisciplinary congress of neurovascular diseases.

He was Born the 19th of Dec.1961 in Paris and studied medicine from 1979 to 1985. He passed the competition of the “Internat des Hôpitaux de Paris” in 1985 (37th position among 3500 candidates).

He did a fellowship in Psychiatry from Nov. 1985 to Oct. 1989, one year in fundamental research on Pharmacological and Biochemical Characterization of rat hippocampal 5-Hydroxytryptamine1A Receptors (Dr. Michel Hamon). INSERM unité 288, Paris from Nov.1986 to Oct. 1987.

He was psychiatrist in the general Hospital of Point à Pitre (Guadalupe) during his military Service from May 1988 to Aug. 1989.

He decided to abandon psychiatry for neuroradiology in 1989 and became Fellowship in Radiology until May 1992.

He did his Thesis of Medicine on “Cerebral dural arterio-venous fistulas: clinical and angiographic correlation with a revisited classification of venous drainage” (Director P. Gobin, President J.J. Merland), Sept. 1992.

He was Assistant in the Department of Neuroradiology, Hôpital Lariboisière (Pr. Merland), Nov. 1992 to Oct. 1993, “Chef de Clinique assistant” in the department of Neuroradiology, Hôpital Salpêtrière (Pr. Marsault, Pr. Chiras,), Nov. 1993 to Oct. 1995 Consultant in the department of Neuroradiology, Fondation Ophtalmologique Rothschild (Pr. J. Moret), Nov. 1995 to Dec. 1997.

He is Professor of Radiology, University of Toulouse, since Sept. 1999.

He is particularly concerned by Global warming and carbon dioxide elevation, gave a few conferences on this topic and decided to stop flying in summer 2019.

He recently became an expert in legal medicine.
